The south coast, one beach after another — Itinerario in scooter

A day at the sea without deciding in advance where to stop. You head south and find, one after another, four different beaches: the very white sand of Fontane Bianche, the equipped lidos of Marina di Avola, the mouth of the Asinaro and the long beach at Calabernardo, which ends on the rocks. Flat roads, nothing technical: this is the right ride for your first day.

• Calabernardo, sand that ends in a cliff

• Fontane Bianche is 12 km from Siracusa: take the road to Cassibile and follow the signs.
• The beach takes its name from the freshwater springs on the seabed: the water at the shore is colder than you expect.
• In August the car parks near the lidos fill up by ten. On a scooter that is somebody else's problem.
• Bring a lock: a helmet left on the seat at the beach disappears.
